Today 343 Industries issued a statement via Halowaypoint that some gamers who preordered Halo 5: Guardians digitally could run into some issues on launch day if you don’t take action. In the post, 343 Industries stated that if you digitally pre-ordered before September 21 and are NOT using Instant On power mode could run into some issues. The reason being is because of an incorrect “stub file” and users will be required to delete the game and reinstall. Here is how you check if you have the correct version of the game.
- Go to My games & apps
- Sort your game collection by selecting sort by size
If your Halo 5: Guardians game size is greater than 40 GB, you have the correct version. If it is less than 40 GB, you have the incorrect version and will need to delete the game and reinstall.
While 343 Industries anticipates that this will affect a very small portion of its user base, gamers who don’t use Instant On power mode need to be aware of this issue and to investigate it accordingly. We are nearing the release of the much anticipated Halo 5: Guardians and Xbox gamers around the world have been wanting a new Halo game since the disastrous launch of the Master Chief Collection. Halo 5: Guardians releases on October 27th.
