This weekend, the movie Frozen 2 easily took over the box office. It wasn’t difficult for the Disney juggernaut to continues its dominance of the box office for 2019. The movie grossed an estimated $127 million in its first weekend. The movie is sitting at $350 million worldwide, the movie should easily gross over $500 million by next weekend. Frozen 2 sits at 75% Certified Fresh on Rottentomatoes.com.
“Frozen II can’t quite recapture the showstopping feel of its predecessor, but it remains a dazzling adventure into the unknown.”- Rotten Tomatoes
A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and 21 Bridges also where released this weekend. Those movies both underperformed as they failed to gross over $15 million apiece. Joker added $2.8 million to its total gross as the movie comes to its theatrical run. Being the only Rated R movie that has grossed $1 billion guarantees a sequel. Terminator: Dark Fate continues its slow death as it failed to gross over $300 million. The series is dead, it would be nice for filmmakers to please let it rest in peace. Jason had released an article about his thoughts on the series. It does seem that Robocop will be returning to the theaters.
Weekend Top Three
3.A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood $13.5 million
2. Ford v Ferrari $16 million
1. Frozen 2 $127 million
Next weekend the movies Knives Out and Queen & Slim will both be fighting for the second and third spots. Like I said last weekend the movie Frozen 2 will again take the top spot next weekend. It should easily take over the box office until Jumanji: The Next Level comes out in December.
