Final Windows 10 build gets pushed out by Microsoft

Microsoft has pushed out their final build (Build 10240) to Windows Insiders on both Fast and Slow ring testers today. This marks the ‘RTM’ stage for the new operating system which will be released on July 29th. However Microsoft was quick to point out that this is not like the traditional RTM releases that was pushed out to manufacturers who build Windows based devices. With Windows going towards the new Windows-as-a-Service model, the basic system is done, but in the coming days and weeks Microsoft will add more security and feature related fixes via Windows Update.

Windows 10 widely regarded as the last Windows you will ever buy, was tested by over 5 Million Windows Insiders. Earlier this month Microsoft suspended the download of new builds in anticipation of the final build. They also have not made available ISO downloads for this new build as it is Upgrade only. Which means you won’t be able to do a clean install as current Preview keys do not work with this build.

Windows 10 will be released on July 29th starting automatic upgrades for Windows Insiders and people who approved the upgrade via the Windows 10 Upgrade prompt that showed up in the system tray for Windows 7 and 8 users. The upgrade will be free, and you have one year to claim the upgrade.
