E3 2017: Spider-Man Gameplay Finally Shown

Spider-Man was a show stealer at last year’s E3, it looks like the Web-Head has stolen the show again after a stunning demo at Sony’s conference. Sony showed off a nine minute demo that gave a great look at the combat; as well as an intense chase with a helicopter.

The gameplay demo featured Spider-Man sneakily taking out a gang who were attacking Fisk Tower. The gameplay seems like it is heavily inspired by the Batman: Arkham series, but it’s presented in a much flashier style that fits the Spider-Man character very well. Spider-Man would set up traps that web up unsuspecting enemies, he leaps over enemies as he counters them, this is how Spider-Man should fight in a video game.

We also got a sneak peak at the game’s traversal system, as Spider-Man was swinging around New York and running across buildings to catch up to the helicopter. It’ll be interested to see how this works in a normal setting, as the web swinging was a bit slow in the trailer.

The gameplay ends with a teaser that the other Spider-Man, Miles Morales, will be in the game. Though we don’t see him in his Spider-suit; so his role in the game is unknown. Perhaps he will be playable in a potential co-op mode?

Spider-Man is set to release exclusively on the PlayStation 4 in 2018.
