Disney and Co. Coming to Netflix

Starting in September, Netflix will be your only place to find Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm! If you didn’t have the service already, it might be time to start considering it. The deal was actually signed in 2012 but took nearly four years to go into effect.

This doesn’t mean however that every Disney and affiliated movie will be available on Netflix, but rather it will be the only (legally) streaming venue to find them on. They certainly paid a pretty penny for the privilege but it’s obvious that the public’s demand for the streaming service will go up. The best part: the newest releases will also be available much sooner than is the usual on Netflix. No more waiting for an unpredictable amount of time. Think HBO Go new release time frames.

The deal could also have repercussions to cable, as A.V. Club states:

That could have major implications for premium cable channels, which justify their subscription costs by offering access to last year’s blockbusters. Now, those coveted post-Blu-ray, pre-cable slots will go to Netflix exclusively—at least where anything Disney-related is concerned—shutting out both the HBOs and Showtimes of the world and other streaming services.

So, what Disney related movie are you looking forward to streaming most? Less than 4 months to go!
