In a perfect world every single Xbox 360 title would be playable on Xbox One but in reality that just isn’t the case. Third party games in particular represent a sticky legal point because Microsoft needs to obtain permission from the publisher or whoever holds the rights to a particular title. To be fair, Microsoft has attempted to make the procedure as painless as possible for publishers. They don’t need to do any extra work other than approving the game for backwards compatibility but until that happens an Xbox 360 game simply cannot be made playable on Xbox One.
There is good news for fans of Deus Ex: Human Revolution though. It looks like all of the right people are working together to add the game to the backwards compatibility list according to a recent exchange on Twitter. The post from the game’s official Twitter account expressed hope that they will have something to announce soon.
As of this writing, Deus Ex: Human Revolution has just over 12,000 votes to be made playable on Xbox One. If you would like to see this game added to the backwards compatible library then you might consider adding your vote and letting the publisher know through Twitter and other social media platforms. The Xbox One’s backwards compatibility feature will officially launch in November with over 100 titles available then and more games to be added over time.
Thanks, Gamespot.
