Death Note’s Light Isn’t Playable in Jump Force

Ever since Jump Force was announced at E3 during Microsoft’s press conference fans have been scrounging for any information regarding the game. If you recall at the end of the trailer a special character was revealed, Light Yagami from the hit series Death Note. Fans around the world cheered as they couldn’t wait for a chance to play as the beloved character.

Unfortunately, fans may be very disappointed with the recent news. In an interview at E3 with the director of Jump Force Koji Nakajima news broke that Death Note’s “Light Yagami” will not be a playable character in the game. When ask about the reveal and what that will entail in terms of gameplay he had this to say: “Death Note’s Light Yagami, who can kill whomever he wants by writing down their name, features in a trailer, but Nakajima said he won’t be playable as a fighter (“Light would be very, very overpowered,” he laughed). He did confirm that there will be women in the game.”

This is a bummer for fans who saw that a non fighter in Light would be in the game would give hope to other possible characters. So what can fans expect? Well most likely Light will just be an intricate part of the story and nothing more. Even-though, there’s still hope for other characters. Shonen Jump has an extensive lineup of properties and we should expect a majority of the fan favorites to show up. So far the confirmed playable characters are: Naruto, Goku, Luffy, Sasuke, Zoro and Frieza.

Jump Force will release in 2019 for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. If you haven’t checked out the trailer for the most ambitious crossover game, we have it for you below.
