Crunchyroll and Adult Swim have announced a partnership together. This partnership will cover programming as well as distribution for titles. Crunchyroll is now the premier content partner for Adult Swim’s “Toonami“ anime block. Joanne Waage–Crunchyroll general manager had this to say about the deal: “Our mission is to grow anime globally,” and the Adult Swim partnership will help further that goal because “Toonami” has been incredibly influential in the growth of anime here in the U.S.”
This is great for Crunchyroll since lately the news regarding the company hasn’t been too good. From steadily losing content licenses from its previous partnership with Funimation. Joanne Waage also stated that fans of the service can expect to see “More new co-productions, expanded distribution of dubs, and generally more accessible anime!”
SVP and creative director of Adult Swim, Jason DeMarco stated that “Our partnership with Crunchyroll will open up exciting new possibilities for both of us,” he also went on to say that “This will expand Toonami’s already great programming to include even more premiere and original anime. It’s a great time to be an anime fan!”
