Crazy Rich Asians Takes the Top Spot in a Slow Weekend

Crazy Rich Asians dominated the box office in its second weekend. The Summer movie season is obviously coming to a close with such low numbers. It look like the next big movie will be out until September when The Nun is released.

This weekend we witnessed the release of The Happytime Murders and A.X.L.; both performed terribly at the box office. The Happytime Murders barely gained back any of the film’s $40 million budget. Maybe it is time to realize that streaming services are finally taking a toll on box office numbers.

Weekend Top Five

5. Disney’s Christopher Robin $6.3 million

4. Mission Impossible: Fallout $8 million

3. Happytime Murders $10.2 million

2. The Meg $13 million

1. Crazy Rich Asians $25 million

This is not a good time for fans of comic book, sci-fi or horror movies.. Coming out on September 7th is The Nun, another spin-off in The Conjuring Universe. A new Predator film is coming out on the 14th; I’m very excited to see how bad this movie is going to be. Finally don’t forget that Venom is finally coming to theaters on October 5th. As for now, just enjoy the last few weeks of Summer.
