Crackdown 3 Has Been Delayed To Spring 2018

Xbox One owners have been waiting for a very long time to play the highly anticipated Crackdown 3. The wait it going to be a bit longer.

Polygon has confirmed that Microsoft is delaying the release of Crackdown 3 until sometime in Spring of 2018.

Shannon Loftis has also confirmed the delay via her Twitter account:

“Crackdown 3 is a hugely ambitious game and we want to ensure we deliver the right experiences all the way through every part of the game, whether that’s campaign, co-op multiplayer or our competitive multiplayer mode, Wrecking Zone,” said Loftis.

The game was initially announced over three years ago during Microsoft’s E3 2014 press conference. One of the game’s unique features is a cloud-powered multiplayer mode which enables unprecedented environmental destruction physics.

“Crackdown 3 is an incredibly ambitious project that pushes the technological envelope with immersive true 4K gameplay, cloud-computing competitive multiplayer and a sprawling and futuristic open world. The team has been working extremely hard to deliver a great experience for fans and this extra time will help us do just that,” Loftis added.

The delay comes at a particularly bad time for Microsoft’s Xbox division. The Xbox One has faced severe criticism for its relatively small exclusive library this year when compared to its competitor, the PlayStation 4. As of this writing the first party exclusive lineup for the Xbox One is Cuphead, Forza Motorsport 7 and Super Lucky’s Tale. The Spring 2018 lineup currently includes Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2 and Ori and the Will of the Wisps.
