Captain Marvel has become the first movie of 2019 to pass that billion dollar mark. The movie sits at $1,002,651,774 world-wide. This is a huge boost in confidence for woman superheroes to have their own movies. Black Widow is also set to have her own adventure at some point. That movie just added Stranger Things David Harbour to the cast.
Wonder Woman really set that tone that these movies could bring in an audience that has been driven solely with male leads. Wonder Woman grossed $821 million in its theatrical run. Captain Marvel features Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, a human among aliens with a past she can’t remember. Also she has these amazing powers that basically makes her one of the strongest heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie is set in the 90’s and features a younger Nic Fury who befriends Captain Marvel. Some other things happen that I don’t need to explain, you can go watch the movie to find out.
Captain Marvel is the seventh Marvel movie to cross that billion mark. All three prior Avengers films, Captain America: Civil War, Iron Man 3, and Black Panther have all crossed that line. Avengers: Infinity War is the only one that crossed the 2 billion mark. Avengers: Endgame is already breaking pre-sale ticket records. That movie is still coming out on April 26th. Wonder Woman 1984 is scheduled to come out on June 5th, 2020. The Black Widow movie is still in the early stages and has no release date.
