Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII Rumors Abound

Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII was officially announced some time ago, with the full reveal coming at a community event on May 17th, 2018. In the build-up to that event, some very interesting rumors about the game have come out.

Let’s dive into these Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII rumors:

Earlier today, Polygon reported that they had sources claiming Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII will not include a traditional single-player story mode and will instead focus totally on different multiplayer modes.

Here’s Polygon’s statement:

The sources, who asked for anonymity, said that as Black Ops 4’s release date approached, it became evident that development on the single-player campaign wouldn’t be completed. One source said Treyarch has since focused Black Ops 4’s development on expanding multiplayer and the series’ popular Zombies mode. The source described an emphasis on cooperative modes as a potential stand-in for the typical single-player campaign experience.

The rumor mill doesn’t stop here though., a source of Call of Duty news with a proven track record, reported something very interesting earlier today. According to, they’ve heard similar rumors in line with Polygon’s piece and stated that sources have told them Raven Software is developing a Battle Royale mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII.

Here’s’s statement:

charlieINTEL heard similar rumors last month from a tipster, and that same tipster also informed CI that Raven Software has reportedly been tasked with adding a Battle Royale mode to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 to fill the content gap of no campaign.

This is interesting to say the least. Obviously it’s rumor and thus should be taken with a grain or two of salt. Yet, two sources reporting the same information does speak volumes. We’ll have to wait and see what happens at the community event reveal on May 17th, 2018. If both these rumors are true, it’ll be interesting to see how the fanbase reacts.
