Focus Home Interactive released a statement confirming that their current project Call of Cthulhu will still be happening, and is under new management. Cyanide, the maker of such games as Styx: Master of Shadows is running the development of the game.
Call of Cthulhu, which shouldn’t be mistaken for the Original Xbox and PC title with the same name by Bethesda, is based on Chaosium’s Pen and Paper RPG, which is based in the famous HP Lovecraft universe. The project was announced in 2014. The game is a RPG/Investigation game with some open world elements.
‘We are happy that Focus entrusted us with the development of a videogame adaptation of the legendary RPG Call of Cthulhu. As long-time fans of the license, working with longtime partner publisher Focus Home Interactive on such an original and exciting project is, once again, a privilege. We hope to offer fans the game they’ve long been waiting for.’
Patrick Pligersdorffer – CEO of Cyanide Studio
It’s great to see developers taking on the HP Lovecraft horror genre. The game is expected to launch on Xbox One and other platforms in 2017.
