It seems as if the leaks were right, Call of Duty is going back to its roots. Activision finally revealed the aptly named Call of Duty: WWII. The company announced the game through a simple image showcasing a soldier. The game will have a “worldwide reveal” (presumably a trailer) on April 26 at 10AM Pacific/ 1PM Eastern. The official site for the game is also up. However, the site has no additional info currently.
Sledgehammer Games will be developing the game; they previously attempted to work on a Call of Duty game set during the Vietnam War before moving on to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Advanced Warfare was meet with a middling reception, but that was mostly due to fan resistance against the series becoming sci-fi oriented. Sledgehammer working on a more traditional Call of Duty game will be the true test of their worth.
TICGN will report back with all the latest on Call of Duty: WWII as it comes in.
