Pennywise the killer clown failed to contain the epic-ness of Blade Runner 2049 last weekend. It seems though the movie just didn’t have the massive opening weekend that was expected of it. Still, the movie took the top spot over the weekend.
Blade Runner 2049, The Mountain Between Us, and My Little Pony all came out this past weekend. Only one movie made more then $11 million this weekend domestically. The futuristic movie that is a sequel to the classic Blade Runner came in at $35 million. This was below the estimated $50 million the studio believed the movie would have made. In the foreign market the movie grossed $50 million, giving the movie a healthy $81 million world wide. The movie features Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, and Jared Leto. It dropped down to number 3 as the Stephen King adaptation still continues its theatrical run. That movie is sitting in the top five domestic movies for the year but that will of course change once Star Wars: The Last Jedi is released.
Weekend Top Five
5. Kingsman: Golden Circle $8 million
4. My Little Pony $8.8 million
3. It $9.5 million
2. The Mountain Between Us $10 million
1. Blade Runner 2049 $35 million
Next weekend, The Foreigner with Jackie Chan and Happy Death Day both look to take the top spot. After that though we will be getting a flood of new movies. Enjoy the free time you have now. The trailers this weekend have all been fantastic. Thanks to the New York Comic Con we have a new trailer for Justice League, Pacific Rim: Uprising, and X-Files Season 11. I know that this is a movie article, I just think you should watch the trailer for the best show on tv. Also we have a trailer for Mayhem, Replicas, The Babysitter. Hopefully you find sometime to go enjoy a movie at home or in the theater.
