Blade Runner Sequel Moves To October 2017

The Blade Runner sequel starring Harrison Ford has officially moved to October 6th, 2017. This is all according to a report by Variety. Hampton Fancher returned to the franchise to write the sequel with Michael Green (Green Lantern, Heroes) and at the moment we know little of the plot they’ve woven together.

Denis Villeneuve, who directed this year’s Sicario, will be helming the project which sees Harrison Ford return as Detective Rick Dekkard with Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Ana de Armas (Exposed, Knock Knock) and Ryan Gosling (The Notebook, The Big Short) supporting. It’s usually a good sign from a studio when they move a movie up to a move competitive slot on the films calender. There is currently a Fox Marvel movie scheduled to release on that date (as yet untitled) as well as an ‘Untitled Warner Bros Event Movie’ all occupying the same slot. It’s quite likely we’ll see a shake up before 2017 but a move away from January always means good things.
